After nearly 20 successful years in Corporate America, J. Todd Phillips set out to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams. In spring 2013, he founded Parson Partners, a diversified strategic business services and advisory firm. As CEO of Parson Partners, J .Todd is accountable for setting the vision and overall leadership of the firm. Through Parson, Phillips and his team partner with Fortune 500 companies, governmental agencies, hospitals & physician groups and small & midsized business throughout the US. Services include strategic planning and execution, business development, talent management and executive coaching. Phillips is often engaged as an interim executive – typically CEO, COO or Chief Marketing Officer – for mid-sized companies in need of specialized services.

A recognized business leader, Phillips serves on the Board of Directors for Land of Lincoln Health, a health insurance co-op serving commercial employers and individual members throughout the state of Illinois. He chairs the Insurance Committee and is also a member of the Finance committee. Committed to education, J. Todd is Chairman of the Executive Advisory Council for Northeastern Illinois University’s College of Business & Management and is also adjunct business professor at two universities in the metro-Chicago area.

Prior to founding Parson Partners, Phillips served for more than 12 years at three of the nation’s largest health insurance carriers. His roles have included strategy, marketing, sales & account management and overall P&L accountability. J. Todd spent the first six years of his career with Delta Air Lines in multiple roles of increasing responsibility. In addition to his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Morehouse College in Atlanta, J. Todd has also completed executive education programs at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and was certified as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

Born and raised in northern New Jersey, J. Todd and his wife Kirsten are the proud parents of two fun-loving children, Parker and Mason. For nearly two decades, J. Todd has served as a youth sports coach and is active with several community organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago, Little City Foundation, the Streeterville Chamber of Commerce, and is a Fellow of the Leadership Greater Chicago Class of 2013. In addition to his Board work, J. Todd is a frequent panelist, keynote speaker and media expert for both industry and community interests.

P&L accountability for the Local Markets segments which consisted of nearly 30,000 commercial accounts generating more than $12 billion in annual revenue

Interim CMO – $100M medical transport company

Manage all B2C activities (SEO, PPC, Direct Marketing). Launched B2B sales capability build internal processes, implement CRM system, recruit & hire VP and sales execs. Closed three B2B deals in first two months resulting in projected annual revenue increase of 25%.

Interim COO – $25M manufacturing company

Turnaround; implemented new solutions for outsourcing and inventory management. Renegotiated contracts with wholesalers. Renegotiated terms with creditors. Right-sized staff. Prepared company for sale to private buyer. Changes implemented helped increase EBITDA multiple from two to five.

Marketing executive – $400M lab, medical research and manufacturing company

Renegotiated terms with insurance companies, helped secure $25 million in at-risk revenue. Established new processes and management protocols for national sales force. Sales increased 10% with 20% fewer reps.

Board of Directors – Land of Lincoln Health

Head of Insurance committee, providing direct guidance to CEO & Pres on all product, pricing and cost control measures. Helped define integrated marketing strategy and education campaign. Grew from zero to >30K members in 15 months.
